Fibroids and my new pregnancy

So i went into the doctors yesterday and when the doc measured my belly she said that i was measuring like 19-20 weeks along. She said maybe there were twins in there or my dates could be wrong. She brought in an ultrasound machine to have a look at the baby(s). She found that there indeed was only one baby in there, and that the baby was measuring 13 weeks like it should have been. I have had some unpleasant symptoms as of late, and with me measuring big pretty much the only thing she could think of causing this was uterine fibroids. They aren't positive that that is what it is, but i am pretty sure from all of my symptoms etc that that is what it is. They are gonna have me come back in in 5 weeks when i am 18 weeks ( a little early) for my ultrasound, and they will check to see if i indeed have uterine fibroids. The scary thing is that fibroids can cause complications in pregnancy.

Complications of Fibroids During Pregnancy
Though fibroids tend to grow in size during pregnancy, it is unlikely that they will cause you any symptoms. Some pregnant women do experience minor symptoms, particularly pelvic pain and light spotting. This is especially common if you experience fibroid torsion, when a fibroid growing on a stalk begins to twist. However, most pregnant women will not even know that the fibroids are there.

Most pregnant women who have fibroids will not experience any complications with their pregnancy either. However, fibroids during pregnancy do increase your risk of miscarriage or preterm labor slightly. Occasionally, complications can arise if your fibroids become very large. Complications can include:

• postpartum hemorrhaging
• obstructed labor (if the fibroid grows into the birth canal)
• fetal malpresentations (sometimes fibroids grow into the uterus, forcing your baby into an unusual position)
• stalled labor
• cesarean section
